In line with efforts to promote academic integrity and address the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into education, a significant update is being implemented for the Turnitin services provided under the EKUAL framework.
As of October 6, 2026, Turnitin’s AI detection feature has been expanded to include support for Turkish, German, and Dutch. Previously, this feature was available for English, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic; with this update, Turkish, German, and Dutch have been added, bringing the total number of supported languages to seven.
Please note that for any work uploaded to the Turnitin system prior to the introduction of support for Turkish, German, and Dutch, the system will not automatically generate retrospective AI detection results. To utilize the AI detection feature for documents in these languages, they must be re-uploaded to the system on or after October 6, 2026.
